Purpose and Mission:
-
To serve the citizens and the Court of
Franklin County by verifying that all Court ordered terms and conditions
of Probation / Parole are followed.
-
To protect all members of the community by
efficiently monitoring offenders, and arresting / incarcerating those that
threaten to endanger society.
-
To continue to help lower / maintain the
population of the Franklin County Prison by means of utilizing a treatment
approach for drug offenders, and by employing the Intermediate Punishment
Programs for those offenders that have committed minor violations.
The officers of the Adult Unit supervise and monitor client activity
through several means. These include employment contacts, home contacts,
office contacts, collateral contacts, drug testing, breath testing, drug and
alcohol counseling contacts, and other methods as deemed necessary on a case
by case basis.
The ultimate goal of the probation/parole officer is to protect members of
the community, and attempt to successfully guide those persons placed under
supervision into being productive members of society.
Officers make efforts to encourage offenders to obtain gainful employment
which, in turn, will enable offenders to pay monetary restitution to the
victim(s), court ordered fines and costs, and to provide them with a means
to handle their own financial responsibilities.
Utilizing casework techniques, officers verify that the offender is
complying with all court ordered rules and conditions of supervision.
Provide referrals for drug and alcohol, or mental health treatment, and aid
the clients in a smooth transition from a prison setting, into the community
population.
