I would like to welcome you to the Franklin County Pennsylvania Adult
Probation Department's website. Since the site's inception in 1997, we have
grown as a department, adding many programs, tools to increase the
effectiveness of our work and a secure building to do it in. This site's
popularity and the number of applicants who said they "saw it on the web" is
a testament to the growth and importance of information technology.The
Franklin County Probation Department is a Court related agency, responsible
to the 39th Judicial District of Pennsylvania. The Department's mission is
to integrate the delivery of correctional programming into related community
supervision and operations as deemed necessary for the protection of society
and the reintegration of offenders back into the community.
Specifically, the department shall provide:

Protection of the citizens of Franklin
County.

Effective community
supervision/surveillance for offenders under the jurisdiction of the
probation department.

Programming, either directly or through
other community resources, to assist offenders in achieving a crime-free
and satisfactory life style adjustment.

Effective evaluative tools and information
to the Courts for use in sentencing decisions.

Effective supervision of offenders in
jurisdictions other than those which placed them under supervision.

Utilization of all practical methods to
encourage self-improvement in the conduct and behavior of offenders under
the jurisdiction of the department.
In addition to supervision services, the department is responsible for
completing pre sentence and social history reports, pre-parole
investigations, sentencing guideline forms, and the collections of fines,
costs, and restitution. The department is also responsible for maintaining
programs of Intermediate Punishment (Intense Probation, Electronic
Monitoring/House Arrest, and Pre-Trail Release), Driving Under the Influence
Unit, and Community Service Programs.
