Chief Probation Officer Daniel S. Hoover named to State Council

Governor Rendell appointed Chief Hoover to serve on the State Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision today. The Chief's many years of experience working with the Interstate Compact Services will be a great benefit to the work of this important council.

2010 Chili Cook Off Winners

The competition was tough with 10 staff members offering their finest recipes for the judges consideration. While all the entries were good, only one could be the best. Judged by Rick Ackerman of Juvenile Probation, Lt. Rodney Effland of the Jail, and DUI Unit Supervisor McCubbin, the winners were:

On March 11, 2009 County employees received recognition for years of service and Perfect Attendance at a formal ceremony. Unfortunately, due to work requirements three of our staff were unable to attend, and are recognized here.

Judge Herman Sworn In As President Judge

On Friday January 16, 2009, Judge Douglas W. Herman took the oath of office of President Judge in historic Franklin County Courtroom #1. The oath was administered by Senior Judge John R. Walker before a crowd of Court employees, elected officials, department heads, members of the Franklin County Bar, friends, family, and other well-wishers.
Daniel S. Hoover Named Chief Probation Officer

In a move which surprised no one, the Judges of the Franklin County Court have appointed Dan Hoover to the position of Chief Probation Officer. Mr. Hoover joined the Department in 1990, when he was hired to spearhead the new Intensive Supervision Program. He was promoted to Adult Supervision Unit Supervisor in 1995, and Deputy Chief in 2006. The officers and staff wish him well during this time of transition.
Intermediate Punishment Supervisor Jim Furry Retires

After 33 years of service to the citizens of Franklin County at both the County Prison, and as Intermediate Punishment Program Supervisor, Jim retired as of January 7, 2009. We in the Department wish him a long and happy retirement.
